This crusted chicken parmesan recipe is for real one of my personal favorite dinners. It is restaurant quality without the high price tag.
You know the taste … a dish that you can’t even believe that you made by yourself and it tastes even better than what it would cost at a restaurant for the sheer fact that you know that it cost you $2 per serving to make and at an Olive Garden for example, you’d be paying $12.95 for this exact dinner.
Yes, that tastes and sounds good to me, too!
Easy Parmesan Crusted Chicken
I have kind of held off on posting this recipe. Why??? I’m glad you asked.
Because the pictures are lackluster at best. Sometimes as I’m making a new recipe up I’ll take pictures as I go to be able to change things in future revisions.
I’m telling you – this recipe needed zero revisions. It was perfect from the beginning. But, my photos …. those will need some serious TLC. For now though, I couldn’t hold off posting this recipe, simply because it is too good not to share!
I must note that this is also one of the easiest recipes to prepare as well. Like mindblowingly easy.
OK, here goes, how to make my favorite oven baked parmesan chicken.
Parmesan Chicken Recipe Ingredients:
6 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1/2 cup butter melted
1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 1/2 cups marinara sauce
8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded or 6 slices
cooking spray
Serve chicken on top of: 16 oz. spaghetti noodles baked al dente (could do rice instead)
Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast Directions:
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
Place the melted butter in a medium glass bowl.
Place the Italian breadcrumbs, panko breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese and desired salt and pepper in a large shallow bowl and mix well.
Dip each chicken breast into the melted butter, then into the breadcrumbs to coat evenly.
Use the bake of a spoon to cake the panko and breadcrumbs to the butter.
** Tip: Do the butter to breadcrumbs a little quick-like because the butter will get cold on the chicken and won’t be as sticky.
Place each chicken breast on parchment paper (or sprayed) sheet pan
Coat the top of each chicken breast with cooking spray and drizzle any remaining butter over the chicken.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove the pan from the oven. Place a few spoonfuls of marinara sauce and a slice of cheese on top of each chicken breast.
Heat the broiler, then put the pan of chicken back in the oven.
Cook for 1-2 minutes or until cheese has melted and browned.

Can you use powdered Parmesan cheese instead of freshly grated?
I have used both and each chicken parmesan recipe is equally as good. You can’t go wrong with this recipe. Just don’t skimp on the butter!
How do you make a good crust on boneless and skinless chicken?
The secret to having crispy crust on your chicken parmesan is the Panko bread crumbs and the spritz of cooking spray on the chicken breasts. So, if you’re going to skip any of the steps, don’t skip those two!
