This Sausage Cream Cheese Crescent Roll Appetizer is AMAZING! If you’re looking for a hearty sausage appetizer option, this is a hit every time we serve it at parties.
This is the Best Appetizer Crescent Rolls Star In!
We are loving all things sausage at our house. From sausage appetizers, to sausage breakfasts … move over bacon, we’re onto bigger, and better things! (Just kidding, bacon, we still love you so!)
In all seriousness, though, our son all of a sudden is into recipes made with sausage more than he ever has been and with how active he is, it’s pretty important to get plenty of protein in his diet.
Recently I whipped up this sausage appetizer and it went over like gangbusters here so I couldn’t wait to share it on the blog, naturally! I just know that you’ll love it!
In this appetizer, crescent rolls are the star just as much as the sausage. Both play an equal part in its awesomeness and make it complete.
Ingredients for this sausage cream cheese crescent roll amazingness:
2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls or 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent dough sheets
1 lb spicy or mild bulk pork sausage (ask the butcher for breakfast sausage if making this for a sausage breakfast recipe)
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese
1 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese
How to make this crescent roll appetizer:
After preheating the oven, unroll 1 can of dough into 2 long rectangles. Place in greased 13×9-inch glass baking dish; press over bottom and 1/2 inch up sides to form crust
In a 12-inch skillet, cook sausage over medium heat, stirring frequently, until no longer pink
Remove sausage from skillet; discarding drippings
To the same skillet, add the cream cheese and blend together, cooking over low heat until melted
Add the cooked sausage; stirring to coat. Spoon evenly over crust in baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese
Unroll the second can of dough and press to form 13×9-inch rectangle; firmly press perforations to seal, and carefully placing over cheese.
Bake 21 to 26 minutes or until golden brown
Cut into small squares to serve – and enjoy!
Can this sausage appetizer be served for breakfast, too?
Oh, for goodness sakes, YES! Cheese, sausage, crescent roll dough … what’s not breakfast about that?! But, just make sure that you get breakfast sausage rather than a spicy sausage. That will have the preferred breakfast sausage seasonings.
