Kitchen must-haves for women over 50 who wish they’d bought them sooner After two decades of using kitchen gadgets and appliances, I’ve learned that there’s nothing more aggravating than trying to use a kitchen tool that’s just not up to par, like a chef’s knife that’s lost its edge, a sheet pan that’s warped beyond use, or a blender that makes all kinds of noise but doesn’t actually blend anything. Fortunately, there’s usually an easy fix (and it may be on this list.). From a jar opener that doesn’t rely on grip strength to a silicone utensil rest, here are 54 kitchen must-haves for women over 50, many of which come into use at least once a week, if not daily.
1. An Angled Adaptive Knife That Rocks Through Veggies One-Handed
Ergonomic Adaptive Kitchen Knife
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Unlike chef’s knives, which can be difficult to use if you struggle with a tremor, arthritis, or only have use of one hand, this knife requires minimal wrist action, as you rock it back and forth instead of making a chopping motion. The handle sits at an angle, almost perpendicular to the blade, so your knuckles won’t scrape on the cutting board, and you can cut using your forearm instead of your wrist. The serrated edge glides through tricky-to-cut foods like tomatoes, crusty bread, cooked chicken, and hard cheeses, instead of slipping around and making you saw away with a duller knife. When you’re done with it, you can use the side-loading blade cover to store it safely in a drawer. It’s such a small thing, this knife, but for those who can use it, it makes mealtime a little easier.
2. An 8-Blade Chopper That Replaces Half Your Knife Drawer
Mueller Pro
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Mueller’s chopper (the company has been tweaking it since 2013) comes with eight stainless-steel blades for dicing, mincing, julienning, grating, shredding and slicing, which is basically anything you’d use a knife, box grater or mandoline for. The chopper’s two dicing grids (one dices smaller, the other larger) are oddly satisfying: Halve an onion and watch the chunks fall, plop plop plop, into the catch container. The catch container and food holder are particularly nifty for keeping your counter clean and fingers intact (particularly helpful when julienning/grating/smaller things). Bye bye, tears from chopping up shallots.
3. Magnetic Measuring Spoons That Stack Instead of Cluttering Your Drawer
ChefAide Pack of 8 Stainless Steel Magnetic
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
The spoons detach individually, which is nice. You can just pluck the one you need, instead of untangling a ring of measuring spoons and having your vanilla extract drip down the sides and onto the counter. The spoons are dual sided, with a round side for measuring liquids and an oval side for measuring dry ingredients. The oval side is long and thin enough to fit inside of spice containers, so you don’t have to pour your spices out into bowls or measuring cups first. The spoons lay flat, which will help with counter space, and also includes a level off tool for those who are really anal retentive about baking. The material is a nice heavy duty stainless steel that doesn’t flex and should hold up to being shoved into frozen butter.
4. Under-Cabinet Jar Opener That Bites Down So Your Wrists Don’t Have To
Under Cabinet Lid Jar Opener
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
If you suffer from arthritis or just have a weak grip this product can help you open jars. I hate when I’m making dinner and one of the lids on a jar won’t budge. I don’t think anyone would admit to this but I’ve resorted to holding the jar against my hip and twisting and even putting the lid under hot water to loosen it up. This nifty little gizmo gets the job done. It’s meant to be screwed or adhered (both screws and adhesive are included) under a shelf so that when you do run into a jar lid that won’t budge you slide the jar over the device and twist to your hearts content. It has two rows of teeth made of high-carbon steel that grips the jar lid so you can turn the jar however you like. This little guy weighs less than a quarter of a pound and would come in handy for spice jars all the way up to extra large pasta sauce containers.
5. Hands-Free Electric Jar Opener That Handles Lids up to 3.5 Inches
Electric Jar Opener, Kitchen Gadget Strong Tough
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Loud but quick, it hums to life and in a matter of seconds pops the lid off. There are silicone edges to protect the jar and inside it features stainless steel grips that can open lids 1.2 to 3.5 inches, so you’ll never have to use a rubber mat, enlist another person, or pray for it to open again (looking at you, vacuum sealed lids). Just place it on the jar, push a button, walk away, come back and dinner’s ready. It can’t be used on plastic lids (sorry mayo lovers), but if you have weak grips or arthritis, this may be one of the few kitchen gadgets that actually earns its counter space.
6. Four-Slot Silicone Spoon Rest That Catches Every Sauce Drip
Zulay Kitchen Spoon Rest
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Food-grade silicone won’t warp on the stove and the non-slip bottom will stay in place. This is a great solution to a minor annoyance. You’re sautéing something, you need that stirring spoon, and now there’s a ladle on the counter and a spatula balanced on the edge of the pot and you have to move one of them to get the spoon. And there’s sauce dribbling down from the ladle onto the counter. This silicone pad solves all of those problems. There’s a spot for the spoon, the spatula and the ladle, it contains sauce drips and it’s dishwasher safe. Not exciting, but a great problem solver. You’ll get this for yourself and use it for a week and then order a bunch of them as gifts for all your friends.
7. Dual-Sided Measuring Spoons That Slide Into Narrow Spice Jars
Magnetic Measuring Spoons Set
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
They’re dishwasher safe (and the measurements are etched in, so they won’t flake or fade or wear away like printed measurements). They stack on each other because they’ve got N45 magnets (these are seriously strong magnets) embedded in them, so I don’t have to dig through a jumble of measuring spoons to find the 1/2 tsp one (looking at you, 1/4 tsp). They come with a leveler for heaped-up spoonfuls of flour, sugar, etc. It took me a couple bakes to figure out how to use it properly, but I’m now obsessed with it. My baked goods have never been more uniform. They’ve got two ends: a round end and an oval end. The oval end is narrow enough to fit into spice containers (this sounds rare because apparently most spice containers have narrow openings), and the round end works great for pouring liquids like vanilla extract without dribbling down the sides of the bottle. These are small things, but they make a big difference in my day-to-day baking, and I’m grateful I have them.
8. Stainless Steel Onion Holder With 10 Forks for Even Slices
Onion Slice Holder, 2024 New Stainless Steel (1 Pack)
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Currently perched atop my counter (waiting patiently for me to use it to cut up some onions), this handy little device has quickly made its way to the top of my favorite kitchen gadgets list. Wooden handles. Ten stainless steel tines. And an end to onions rolling away on my cutting board. When I first saw this product, I was not convinced it would be all that helpful. Boy, was I wrong. This product is perfect for cutting up pretty much anything, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, you name it. The tines keep whatever it is you’re cutting from rolling away and save you from having to hold down said object while trying to cut it up (hello, no more almost cutting off my own fingers.). I’ve even used it on meats that aren’t as firm and it works just fine. Cleaning is easy too, just rinse off in soapy water and allow to air dry. Not the most glamorous of items, but has made my weeknight cooking a little less hectic (aside from cutting onions without tearing up, bonus.). This product will not be ending up in my donation pile anytime soon.
9. Six-in-One Opener Set Built for Hands That Tire Quickly
Otstar Jar Opener & Bottle Opener Set
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
There are eight different circular opening sizes (to accommodate everything from baby food lids to pickle jars), lid grip sizes (for lids 1-3 inches), an open mouth hook (to remove the suction on lids), and lever action for stubborn lids. There’s even a bottle opener (which also functions as a pry for sode caps), a pull tab opener, and a screwdriver (no more having to bother grandpa.). For the wine lovers in your life there’s a waiters’ corkscrew and for cooks a square silicone pad (non-skid, waterproof, and oddly-satisfying-to-squish-on-the-hot-pan) that can also be used as a trivet.
10. Zigzag Metal Teeth That Grip Stubborn Lids of Any Size
Jar Opener|Effortless Jar Opener
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
If you’ve ever had a stubborn jar lid that refused to give in despite your best efforts, then a jar opener with a zigzag-shaped metal teeth can be a life saver. Unlike traditional jar openers that simply hug the lid, this opener digs its teeth into the lid for a better grip and makes opening stubborn lids a breeze. Great for opening pickle jars, Tabasco sauce bottles and just about anything else with a round lid. Comes with mounting screws so it can be screwed onto the bottom of a cabinet. Practical, useful, and slightly clinical, this opener would make a great gift for grandparents or anyone else who could use a little extra help opening things around the house.
11. Adjustable 4-in-1 Lid Remover That Fits Caps From Tiny to Oversized
4-in-1 Jar Opener Adjustable Stainless Steel Lid
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
It comes in handy to open all kinds of jars and bottles. The big jar opener is suitable for jar caps measuring 2.5 to 9 cm. It has a built-in cutter to open foil and two bottle openers (regular and mini). Made of durable stainless steel, the jar opener is strong but not heavy. Thanks to its adjustable rotating wrap that can be tightened as much as needed, it firmly grips the lid of the jar or bottle. To open a jar with this tool, simply position, wind and twist. That’s it. No more struggling with jars, looking for a knife or using hot water. The jar opener is compact and can be stored in a drawer or hung on a hook. An ingenious tool, especially for people with limited hand strength (seniors, people recovering from surgery, etc.). Makes a thoughtful gift.
12. A Twist-Top Chicken Shredder That Pulls a Whole Breast in Seconds
Ukeetap 10″ Pro Chicken Shredder Tool Twist
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Use this shredder to quickly shred cooked chicken. Instead of dragging and pulling the fibers apart like most chicken shredders do, this shredder uses teeth to grab onto the meat and pull it apart. Shred hot rotisserie chicken from the grocery store straight away, as this chicken shredder is made from durable, BPA-free plastic. The transparent top lets you see the shredding process in action. Use the chicken shredder to shred meat for tacos (beef), pulled pork or tuna salad. The chicken shredder comes with a brush to help keep the teeth clean. The base can be cleaned in the dishwasher. The chicken shredder has an ergonomic handle and a non-slip base for secure shredding in the kitchen.
13. Heavy-Duty Stainless Steel Jar Opener Designed for Weak or Arthritic Hands
Multifunctional Adjustable Can and Jar opener
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
The patented adjustable design fits lids as small as nail polish (1 inch) to as large as pasta sauce (4 inches). No more sweaty hands trying to open that pesky pickle jar. Unlike other jar openers in your kitchen drawer, this one has a plastic grip that won’t slip. No more straining your wrist, banging it against the counter, or putting it under hot water and just hoping it magically opens. The longer handle makes it easier on your hands (great for arthritis sufferers too.). Just turn it and let it do the work. Makes a great gift.
14. Four Tools in One Opener for Jars, Bottles, and Foil
4-in-1 Jar Opener Adjustable Stainless Steel Lid
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Imagine going to open a bottle of wine for dinner guests, and not being able to open it yourself. How about trying to open a jar of salsa, and having to ask for help? Situations like these can happen to anyone, but for the elderly or those with disabilities they happen all the time, robbing them of much needed independence. With this set, however, that won’t be the case. This opener set includes an adjustable opener, perfect for use on bottles and jars, regardless of lid size. There are also two side openers, also great for use on jars and bottles, and a foil cutter, perfect for opening wine bottles. All of these openers work off of a simple 3 step system, making them very easy to use. Rather than having to use their hands to open bottles and jars, the user will simply have to set up the opener, and let the built in mechanism do the work. This will take both strain and strength out of the process. Plus, the handles won’t get hot and sticky like silicone grips do, as these are all made out of cool, smooth metal. And when not in use, these compact openers will fit nicely in a drawer. These adjustable bottle and jar openers would make a thoughtful gift for grandparents.
15. Nylon Meat Chopper That Breaks Down Ground Beef Without Scratching Pans
Meat Chopper, Hamburger Chopper, Potato Masher
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Ground meat can be difficult to chop up as you’re browning it in a skillet, and you have to keep standing over the stove, stirring the meat and trying to break it apart, and it’s rare that it browns and crumbles up evenly. Enter the Meat Chopper. The Meat Chopper has five angled blades that chop down into the meat as you stir, making sure to break up the meat evenly as it scrapes along the bottom of your skillet. The head of the chopper is made from heat-resistant nylon, so you can use it to stir fry without scratching up your nonstick skillet like you would with most metal spatulas. While its primary purpose is to chop meat, the Meat Chopper can be used for crumbling up just about anything, including potatoes, eggs, and even over-ripe bananas for banana bread. And when you’re done, toss the chopper into the dishwasher to clean.
16. An Electric Can Opener That Works With One Button Press
Kitchen Mama Auto Electric Can Opener: Open
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Battery operated (no pesky wires to hold on to.) and controlled with the push of a button, this twist top opener slices cans from the side instead of the top so there’s no jagged metal lid to deal with (hello soup season.) and no danger of slicing a finger. It’s lightweight (great for anyone with arthritis) and has a much nicer aesthetic (in this case, red) than some of the medical supply versions. My only complaint is that it’s probably not for everyone, as it’s still difficult to hold on to and twist, so if you lack grip strength, it’s not for you. But if you’re like me and can manage to wrestle a can open (think times when a tin of San Marzanos has bested me), you’ll love this opener.
17. Rubber Jar Gripper With Eight Openings for Stubborn Lids
Bloss Anti-skid Jar Opener Jar Lid Remover
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Eight circular openings. One flat rubber disc. That’s it. I hang mine from a little hook on the wall next to the stove, but you could keep it in a junk drawer or a cabinet if you don’t want guests thinking you’re crazy. The openings go from extra tiny (nail polish bottle caps) to extra wide (spaghetti sauce jar). The rubber has a suction-cup like quality to it that grips glass. It’s also great for people with arthritis or other issues with grip strength in their hands/wrists because it uses a lever action to pry off lids instead of strength. And it’s dishwasher safe so if you’re opening a jar of pasta sauce and inevitably get sauce splattered everywhere you won’t have to worry about scrubbing it off your fancy new jar opener. This is great gift for grandparents, or anyone else who has ever stood in front of a pantry at 9pm cursing and holding a jar lid under hot water trying to get it open.
18. Grippy Silicone Mats That Anchor Plates and Bowls in Place
One Handed Gadgets Adaptive Equipment (5 Pieces)
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
What I like about this solution is that it’s elegant and simple and effective. They come in a little storage box and there’s five included. Stick them under things that slide around like bowls, plates, jars, you name it. They’re particularly helpful if you have a condition that makes using one hand difficult (arthritis, stroke, parkinson’s etc). I stuck one under a small mixing bowl to help hold it in place when mixing with one hand. It worked like a charm and came right off afterwards. The discs are clear silicone and they grip onto surfaces better than expected- more like a gecko’s feet than suction cups. They stick well but also peel right off. I stuck one on my ceramic dinner plate and it stayed put until I wanted to remove it. Came right off without leaving any kind of sticky residue behind. The clear silicone also makes them much less noticeable then other products I’ve seen which are usually some opaque colored silicone. Overall I’m very impressed with these little discs. They’re washable and reusable. They’d also make a great solution to a sliding pet bowl. Highly recommend.
19. An Under-Cabinet Jar Opener That Frees Up Counter Space
Moeuonb latest Under Cabinet Jar Opener
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
If you’re recovering from hand surgery or have arthritis or any other condition that makes it hard for you to twist lids off bottles and jars, you’ll love this motorized jar opener that screws or sticks (adhesive included) to the underside of your kitchen cabinets. No more frustration of trying to open stubborn jars of pickles or wrapping dish towels around the lids to give yourself a better grip. Just twist the jar in one hand and this battery-operated tool will open it for you. No motor noise, just quiet, efficient operation. The durable, stainless steel jar biting mechanism (instead of flimsy plastic found on cheaper openers) grips factory-sealed lids for easy one-handed operation. Can also be used on bottles and plastic lids.
20. Stainless Steel Kitchen Scissors That Replace Your Knife and Cutting Board
2 in 1 Kitchen Scissors
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
According to the company, don’t use them on grapes or berries, but everything else is on the menu. These nifty kitchen scissors have a locking feature (great for that cluttered kitchen drawer you’ve been putting off organizing), which also makes them dishwasher safe when locked. The handles are shaped for lefties, too. The company even offers a lifetime warranty on these babies, so they’re clearly made to last. Say goodbye to tomato juice and seeds strewn all over your counter from hacking away at tomatoes with a knife that isn’t quite sharp enough to get through the skin without shredding it. Use these scissors to cut tomatoes (especially cherry tomatoes, which you can snip straight into your salad, sans cutting board), chop up chicken thighs, dice mozzarella cheese, snip herbs right into the pot. You get the idea.
21. Five-Blade Herb Scissors That Mince Cilantro in One Snip
2026 Upgraded Herb Scissors
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
The blades of these herb cutters are food-grade stainless steel (and come with covers to protect them), and each of the five blades is held in place with three rivets. I’ve used the cutter several times now, and have been happy with the results. I find that the blades hold up better than a knife does when I’m chopping herbs, and that I don’t get as many bruised, oxidized ribbons of basil (which happens to me within minutes of cutting with a knife). The handles are lined with a cushiony sort of TPR rubber, which makes them nice to grip when I’m doing a lot of chopping (say, a bunch of parsley for tabbouleh). The little brush that comes with it, plus the blade covers (which double as combs for the blades) make it easy to get any cilantro bits out of the blades. And they’re a bit nerdy. These would make great gifts, and would beat out, say, yet another candle.
22. Plastic Pan Scrapers That Lift Stuck-On Food Without Scratching Cast Iron
Pan Scraper, 5 Pcs Pot Scraper Plastic, (5 Pieces)
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Dealing with burnt-on rice in a cast iron pot is near hopeless. Neither steel wool nor sponges can help you, but these five plastic pot scrubbers will. Made from sturdy ABS (an upgrade from PP), these 2.36-inch squares are resistant to boiling water (215°F) and can be used as pot scrubbers while your cast iron pot is soaking. The pot scrubbers’ edges are angled differently, so you’ll be able to reach the curve where the pot’s base and side meet. Plus, the lines on each scrubber’s surface will keep you from dropping them into your pot while they’re slick with water. And if you’re into baking, you can even use these as dough cutters.
23. A Twist-Top Shredder That Pulls Chicken Apart in Seconds
SURETIVIAN Chicken Shredder Tool Twist Large Chicken
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
The spikes on the edges and teeth on the lid will help to shred your meat quickly and evenly. Simply place cooked meat (make sure to cut into smaller pieces because spikes aren’t intended for raw meat as it can ruin them.) in bowl, secure lid and shred away. The bowl is made of BPA free, food grade material, can handle heat up to 356°F and is dishwasher safe. Anti slip strips on the bottom ensure that it doesn’t slip around on your counter top while shredding. See exactly what’s going on inside as you shred thanks to the clear lid. Stop shredding when you’ve achieved your desired consistency, ranging from chunky to extra shredded. In less than 10 seconds, this chicken shredder does in seconds what would take you a good amount of time and wear and tear on your body doing manually. Perfect for shredded chicken for tacos, shredded chicken for buffalo chicken dip, shredded tuna for tuna salad, pulled pork, and the possibilities are endless. Meal prepping has never been easier.
24. Multi-Size Jar Opener Built for Arthritic Hands and Stubborn Lids
Latest Jar Opener and 5
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Constructed of food-grade PP and rubber, this jar opener comes with eight lid sizes (1-3 inches), an extra-large lid “air-seal breaching” mouth hook, and a hook for ring-pulls. It’s advertised as ideal for those with arthritis or weaker grips, but I can assure you that even able-fingered individuals struggle to open jars (anyone else ever chip a nail trying to get into that marinara sauce on a random Tuesday?). The silicone gripper pad is dishwasher safe, and the entire apparatus can hang on a hook when not in use. And if you’re looking for a use for it besides shoving in a junk drawer, it doubles as a trivet.
25. Spring-Loaded Tongs That Hold Lemons and Tomatoes Steady While You Slice
Lemon Tomato Food Tongs
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
No batteries, charging, apps, this is just a simple little manual tool that will come in super handy for salad and sandwich prep, lunchboxes and more. You know that thing where you’re slicing up cherry tomatoes and you’re wincing the entire time, trying to figure out how to get your knife in the right position, trying to keep the tomatoes from rolling off the cutting board, and then inevitably getting tomato guts and juice everywhere including on your fingers (and possibly cutting your knuckle on the knife because you got sloppy reaching for that pesky little cherry tomato that just wouldn’t stay still)? Yeah. Well, this little tool is going to fix all of those problems. There are little skinny metal prongs that stick into the cherry tomato to keep it from rolling around. The prongs are skinny enough that they won’t squish the tomato or interfere with the cutting process. I can also see this being helpful for mozzarella balls, olives and strawberries. Basically, any spherical food that you’re trying to slice and can’t quite get a good knife position on.
26. Heavy-Duty Poultry Shears That Cut Through Chicken Bones Without Flinching
Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Kitchen Shears
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
If you’re going to be spatchcocking a chicken (or breaking down a whole chicken for soup stock, or butchering fish) you’re going to want kitchen shears that can cut through cartilage and bone. Spring action scissors help with the cutting action too, open handles, spring action opens shears, less work for you. These stainless steel scissors have serrated blades so they will cut through fish bones and cartilage in rack of ribs. Handles remove for easy cleaning (especially important when you’re cutting up chickens) and there’s a lock so they can be stored with other knives without danger of cutting yourself. Bonus: they also have a bottle opener and nutcracker on the handles, handy at a cookout.
27. Nine-Hole Stainless Steel Herb Stripper for Rosemary, Thyme, and Kale
Herb Stripper, Jiaedge Green 9 holes Stainless
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Made of food grade 430 stainless steel, the herb stripper won’t crumble like cheap plastic gadgets and won’t cramp your style with its nine hole sizes (3 to 15 mm) to accommodate everything from tough collard greens stems to thinnest thyme sprigs. The herb stripper’s PP plastic protective cover won’t shred your clothes if it comes into contact with them in your kitchen drawer. Stripping leaves off stems can be time consuming and annoying. Chopping large leaves can be, too. This little stainless steel disc solves both problems. Stick a stem through any of the nine holes, pull, and leaves drop into a bowl. Stem goes into the compost bin. Need to chop kale? No problem. This little disc does that, too. If you’re anything like me, you’re tired of buying single-use gadgets and of having too many gadgets crammed into too-small kitchen drawers. This little herb stripper disc might be just the ticket.
28. An Onion Holder That Doubles as a Meat Tenderizer
Stainless Steel Onion Holder
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Proposal: So basically this thing will help you slice up round objects such as onions, tomatoes, avocados, hard boiled eggs, etc. It solves one of life’s little annoyances (having to stand over the cutting board holding the onion down with a death grip and wincing in anticipation of slicing your own finger while slicing your onion) by firmly holding your food object so you can slice it up into nice even slices/rings. Also, the end with spikes can double as a meat tenderizer (great to press into chicken breasts before marinating.). It’s also dishwasher safe. That’s it. That’s my pitch.

Installation is with double-sided adhesive tape (with screws included as a backup), so the jar opener can withstand the torque of opening stubborn jars. The V-shaped metal teeth grab onto lids up to 4-inches in diameter, and you twist to open. It’s especially useful for seniors, those with carpal tunnel or arthritis, or anyone else who’s banged up their palm on a particularly tough pickle jar lid (which happens more than you’d think), but everyone can appreciate not having to resort to two-handed lid wrestling (or setting the jar lid under hot water, as if it’s still 1997). It’s covered with a lifetime warranty, which gives you an idea of how much of a beating the makers expect it to take.
33. A Pickle Fork That Clips onto the Jar so Your Fingers Stay Dry
2 Pack Pickle Fork Pickle Grabber Tool
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
The included 304 stainless steel pickle fork means no more shaking the jar, jamming a fork down trying to pry out the last pickle or olive, slipping, and generally cussing and getting your fingers wet. The tines keep pickles from sliding back into the jar, and the stretchy silicone ring that holds the fork on the jar (two sizes are included, for a nice bit of versatility, as smaller rings will work great for slimmer cocktail olive jars) maintains its tension and doesn’t fall off after repeated uses. The pickle jar comes in a nice variety of colors to match your countertop décor, and the two-pack makes for an especially nice gift, as the packaging is better than expected, especially for anyone who enjoys martinis.

The handles are extra thick, resembling more like a marker handle than a pencil handle, and can be grasped comfortably with a full fist without having to pinch down. That makes this cutlery a good option for people who struggle with gripping utensils because of arthritis, Parkinson’s or tremors. Caregivers may also appreciate this cutlery. This set includes a fork, knife, spoon and tablespoon.

Are you tired of struggling to open jars? Do you suffer from arthritis or a similar condition that makes gripping difficult? Then look no further. This 5-piece set includes a vacuum-seal jar opener (say goodbye to trying to pry open jars with a knife.), a can opener, and three different long-handled jar openers. The handles on the jar openers are long to provide extra leverage, and have a rubber non-slip coating (great for those with weak grips or for use with wet hands). No more suffering through extra-long spaghetti sauce, pickle, or medicine bottle opening episodes. Great gift for parents or anyone who’s ever had trouble opening jars, bottles, and cans.
36. Ergonomic Twist-Off Tool That Cracks Sealed Water Bottle Caps in Seconds
3-Pack WATER BOTTLE Opener ERGO OPENER
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
Are you tired of struggling with those pesky twist-off caps on plastic water bottles? Do you suffer from weak grip strength due to an injury or surgery, carpal tunnel, arthritis, or another medical condition? Or maybe you’re a kid that’s having a tough time twisting off that cap? Either way, this patented bottle cap opener is just what the doctor ordered. Tight seals, small caps, and bendy (rather than twisty) plastic can make twist-off bottle caps nearly impossible to open. But with this innovative bottle cap opener, you won’t have to do any more “impossible math” to figure out how to open them. Instead, you’ll be able to use your wrist strength and the opener’s patented contoured grip to lever those caps off in no time. This three-pack of bottle cap openers is made in the USA and each lightweight opener can clip onto backpacks, walkers, totes, lunch bags, or anywhere else you can think of. So grab a pack (or a few.) and say goodbye to those aggravating twist-off caps. Keep one at home, one in your car, and one on your lunch tote.
37. Dual-Ended Silicone Spreader That Scoops Peanut Butter and Smooths It Flat
Tovolo Scoop and Spread Large Dual End
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
The handle has a nylon core, so it’s pretty sturdy, which makes it easier to apply jam in the corners of bread or cream cheese on a bagel without the bagel tearing. The slightly firmer nylon side is good for spreading, and the more flexible silicone side works well for scraping and can bend to accommodate the roundness of bowls and jars. The flexibility of the silicone makes it great for scraping peanut butter off a knife or out of jars. It’s also BPA free and dishwasher safe. And unlike most utensils, it’s actually attractive (we have one each in Oyster Gray and Blue Haze).
38. Rubber Gripper Pads That Give Weak Hands Real Twisting Power
LUTER 4pcs Jar Opener (4 Pieces)

And when they’re not helping you conquer those pesky jars of home-canned pasta sauce, they can be used as trivets or as protective covers to grab onto hot oven mitts and pot handles. Made out of a soft but tear-resistant rubber, the pads are surprisingly grippy, almost magnetic, in fact, against glass surfaces. And since most jars of pickles and bottles of kombucha top out just under 5 inches, the nearly 5 x 5 inch square and round pads (respectively) provide ample coverage. While the pink and green pads aren’t exactly flashy, they do look a whole lot less like medical supplies than your average rubber jar opener, making them an especially good option for grabbing lids if you’re a senior, child, or someone who’s grip strength has suffered due to overuse of their smartphone. (They’re also a lot safer than using a knife, which, though effective, is a technique we can’t in good conscience recommend.)
39. An Adjustable Four-in-One Opener Made for Arthritic Hands
2026 New 4-in-1 Jar Opener – Adjustable (1 Pieces)
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
The adjustable winding mechanism opens containers with screw-top lids/caps from as small as a nail polish bottle to as big as a Costco-size pickle jar (lids/caps that are 2.5 cm to 9 cm). The 3 non-slip clamps make a satisfying “click” when they lock into place around the lid/cap, and then instead of using your wrists you simply turn the handle to open. Great if you suffer from arthritis or just don’t have strong gripping power. It also has a large wine corkscrew, a foil cutter, and a small corkscrew (for those stubborn lids on marinara sauce jars.). Made out of stainless steel so it won’t rust. Doesn’t take up much space in a kitchen drawer (lightweight too.). Performs 4 different functions, making it a good investment.
40. Hand-Crank Chicken Shredder That Pulls Pork and Beef in Seconds
SURETIVIAN Chicken Shredder Tool Twist Large Chicken
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
No more shredding chicken (or anything else for that matter) with two forks. Load up this twist-top shredder with your meat once cooked, secure the lid (the teeth will clamp all around) and give the handle a twist. Watch your meat get shredded (there’s a clear window in the lid so you can see what’s going on). BPA-free, dishwasher safe and anti-slip (there’s a handy rubbery strip to grip onto that stops this bad boy from moving while you’re giving it a good twist.), this is the perfect solution for all you BBQers and/or meal preppers out there that have previously burnt their fingers while attempting to shred said meat. Brush for cleaning also included.
41. Nine Non-Slip Grip Pads That Steady Jars, Cans, and Cutting Boards

The gel pads come in nine pieces: three small (2.8 in), three medium, and three large. Made of high-tack polyurethane, they stick to nearly anything (counters, trays, magnetic boards) without leaving a sticky residue. They can be used to help keep spice bottles and canned soups in place (medium size), pill bottles and smaller toiletry items (small size), mixing bowls and cutting boards (large size) from sliding around on your counter while you’re cooking. May be especially helpful for anyone recovering from a stroke or fracture, suffering from arthritis, or pregnant women in their third trimester. If they lose their tackiness, just rinse them off to re-activate. Storage liners included so they don’t stick to each other in your drawers.
42. Stainless Steel Lid Remover That Tackles Caps From 1.5 to 9 Centimeters
4-in-1 Jar Opener Adjustable Stainless Steel Lid
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably resorted to the tried-and-true (albeit slightly dangerous) method of tapping a stubborn jar lid with a butter knife. Enter this handy dandy jar opener. Simply line it up with the lid (it accommodates lids ranging from 2.5 cm to 9 cm so will fit most jars), twist the adjustable rotating feature, and give it a whirl. Say goodbye to those pickle-induced dinner disasters. Bonus points for the built-in foil cutter and dual bottle openers, which will free up some precious drawer space. And if you’re looking to help someone out with this particular dilemma (and struggle to open jars because of a lack of grip strength), look no further. Made of stainless steel but not too hefty, this opener would make a nifty gift for grandparents (or anyone else who’s attempted to crack open a stubborn jar of preserved lemons or tomato sauce with a knife).

Jar openers are an excellent solution for people with arthritis or weak wrists. These rubber jar openers grip the lid of a jar and provide a non-slip surface to turn the lid. The rubber is firm, but flexible enough to mold to the lid of a jar. Instead of wrestling the jar top off the counter top style, just twist it off normally. They also can be used as trivets, pot holders or to protect your counter top. The jar openers are available in six fun colors: yellow, green, red, blue, gray and purple. They are so cute you will want to leave them out on your counter top.

Adaptive One Handed Cutting Board

The One-handed Apple Slicer™ is the perfect solution to a kitchen dilemma. The weighted, solid acacia wood base keeps it firmly in place (silicone feet help it from sliding on the counter top) while food-safe steel spikes hold your ingredients in place so you can easily slice, peel and chop with one hand. It’s perfect for anyone who’s had a stroke or surgery, the elderly or anyone else who may have some mobility issues in the kitchen. Runaway pieces of potato or chicken breast won’t get away because of the back fence which also doubles as a handle when it’s time to move it. Other thoughtful design touches include a beveled edge and finger recesses to make transferring your chopped and peeled chicken breast, potatoes, apples, etc. a breeze.
46. Five-Blade Meat Chopper That Breaks Down Ground Beef Without Scratching Your Pans
5 Blade Heat Resistant Meat Chopper
See price on AmazonSee on Amazon
I’ve found that breaking up ground beef with a wooden spoon is tedious and never results in the beautifully crumbled meat that you see in cookbooks. It also often leaves large chunks of chewy meat behind. The solution? A cleverly designed beef crumbler. With five stainless steel blades built into the heat resistant nylon head, this nifty little tool easily breaks up ground meat with just a simple press and twist. I like that the blades are rounded and won’t scratch nonstick pans. The handle is just flexible enough to make crumbling an entire pound of ground beef easy on the hand. This tool works great for crumbling ground meat, but can also be used for mashing potatoes or refried beans. And, since it’s dishwasher safe, clean up is a breeze. I’m thinking this would also be handy for scraping the last bit of food out of a pot of chili.
