Instant Pot Pierogi Soup

We love our Instant Pot around here, there’s no doubt about that!

And I am always on the hunt for new Instant Pot recipes to make because they are so easy – especially the one pot recipes!

This Instant Pot Pierogi Soup is no exception, either!

And, to boot … it’s super simple!

Bonus: This is one of those pierogi recipes that can be made using fresh or frozen pierogis (that have been thawed) and it’s the bomb either way.

Pierogi Soup Recipe

Before I go too far, make sure that you’re following my Instant Pot Recipes Pinterest Board. The top beef and chicken pressure cooker recipes are all there!

Craving some pierogis? It’s no wonder …. they’re delicious! And, although there is no meat in this soup you could easily add chicken to make it a chicken pierogi soup – not too hard to do that by just adding in some shredded chicken!

This Instant Pot recipe comes together much faster than a slow cooker pierogi soup and I actually prefer this pressure cooker soup version over the crockpot pierogi soup. It has a better texture in my honest opinion.

Instant Pot Soup: Pierogi Style – Ingredients:

10-12 pierogis, thawed or fresh
2 Tablespoons butter
2 green onions
1-16 oz carton chicken or vegetable broth
Sour cream, optional for serving
Cheese, optional for serving

Pierogi Soup Directions:
Making pierogi soup in the Instant Pot

Place the butter in your instant pot and select the sauté setting.
Once the butter is melted, add the pierogis and sear until lightly golden brown. (Or if you want the pierogis to be soft like wontons, skip the searing step but still add the butter.)
Add the green onions and broth and cover the Instant Pot.

Cancel out of the sauté setting and select “soup”.
Let the Instant Pot come to pressure (speed this process up by using hot broth)
Cook for 5 minutes and then natural release for at least 2 minutes.
Then Quick release.
